Should this person deserve a re-match?

In my homeroom we took a grade-level spelling quiz to see who makes it out of my grade as #1 in my school then goes to district bee, then regional, then state, then national. Anyways, I got #1st place in my cl, cuz the person who tied with me was absent so he immediately was disqualified. This kid is pretty smart so I'm glad I dont have to do a re-match with him, but I think he might demand one. Does he deserve one?
