How is James Monroe's - Monroe Doctrine and Washingtons' Farewell address similar?

Well, James Monroe's Monroe doctrine claims no invention of European powers in the western hemisphere. Also stated was that the US would not intervene with foreign wars. This was created for the US to grow and to expand west. Much like Washington's farewell address, he told the people not to create allies that would bring them into foreign wars.
